Marco Bezzecchi has made the best start to the 2026 MotoGP season following standout performances at the Thai and Brazilian Grand Prix. The Italian Aprilia rider has established himself as one of the key figures in the early stages of the championship, sitting at the top of the provisional World Championship standings after the first two rounds of the calendar.

At present, the championship sees Bezzecchi leading the standings with 56 points, followed by his team-mate Jorge Martín on 45 points, whilst Pedro Acosta sits in third place with 42 points following a highly competitive start with KTM. Bezzecchi’s dominance, combined with Aprilia’s competitiveness and the performances of several young riders, has made for a thrilling start to the championship, full of overtaking and outstanding individual performances.

Thailand kicks off the season with Bezzecchi in commanding form

The 2026 Thai Grand Prix kicked off the new MotoGP season with a thrilling race at the Buriram circuit. Marco Bezzecchi showed a very strong pace from the opening laps, which allowed him to control the race and secure victory in the championship’s opening round, demonstrating his superiority over his rivals and proving that he has started the season in excellent form.

Behind them, Pedro Acosta put in a superb performance to finish second on his KTM, whilst Raúl Fernández rounded off the podium after a very consistent and strategic race. The second round of the calendar took MotoGP to Brazil, which was hosting a race again after many years’ absence. The Grand Prix was eagerly anticipated and, from the very first laps, featured a fierce battle for the leading positions, with spectacular overtaking manoeuvres and moments of great excitement for the fans.

Marco Bezzecchi was once again the star of the weekend, securing another victory that cemented his lead in the championship standings. Behind him, Jorge Martín put in an excellent performance to finish second, whilst Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the podium following a fiercely contested race at the front of the field. Marc Márquez finished fourth, demonstrating a competitive pace that keeps him among the contenders for victory in the coming races. The atmosphere at the circuit, with thousands of fans celebrating the return of the championship, made the Brazilian round one of the most spectacular moments of the season opener, making it clear that the title fight will be intense.
