Everything remains the same after the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park. Despite being new to the calendar, the new circuit did not prevent Marc Márquez from once again demonstrating his superiority over the other riders. The Spaniard scored his seventh consecutive double, consolidating a flawless weekend in which he showed his ability to dominate both the Sprint race and Sunday’s long race. With a combination of patience, strategy and consistent pace, Márquez was able to overcome the initial moments of tension, recover any lost positions and remain unbeatable until the chequered flag. His performance not only further extends his lead in the fight for the world title, but also makes it clear that, season after season, he remains the man to beat. With a performance that is virtually unattainable for his competitors, Márquez is pulling further and further away from his rivals and closing in on his ninth world championship, consolidating a dominance that already seems almost unstoppable.

World Cup standings and advantage

After this weekend, Márquez leads the World Championship with 455 points, while his brother Álex Márquez could only manage 14th place, scoring 2 points, leaving a gap of 175 points between them. His teammate, Pecco Bagnaia, remains in third place, 227 points behind the leader. In addition, another of his direct rivals finished 9th, allowing Márquez to extend his lead and strengthen his dominance in the overall standings.
The statistics speak for themselves: Márquez has won 23 of the 28 races contested so far this season, consolidating his overwhelming dominance and closing in on his ninth world title. With eight Grand Prix races remaining, it is clear that the Spaniard has a very solid chance of becoming champion even before reaching Misano.
The performance at Balaton Park
After winning Saturday’s Sprint race, Márquez repeated the feat in Sunday’s long race. Although he lost pole position at the start, he regained first place on the eleventh lap and held on to it until the end. His superiority was evident, finishing several seconds ahead of second-place finisher Pedro Acosta, who managed to hold on to second place with ease. Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium, consolidating his position as one of the riders who can still aspire to climb further up the overall standings.
With this double victory, Márquez has almost doubled his teammate Bagnaia’s points total and significantly increased his lead over his brother Álex, reaffirming that, for the moment, his dominance in MotoGP 2025 is absolute. The next race will be the Catalan Grand Prix, where Márquez could move even closer to the title.
