Pecco Bagnaia’s victory in the Thai GP has further closed the points gap to Jorge Martin, who remains the championship leader. Bagnaia was dominant, especially in the difficult wet track conditions at Buriram, where he managed to handle the pressure from his main rival and maintain a steady pace. With only 17 points separating the two riders and just 74 points at stake, this MotoGP season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and tightly contested in recent years.
Jorge Martin, riding his Pramac Ducati, leads the overall standings with 453 points, closely followed by Ducati Lenovo’s Bagnaia with 436 points. Both riders have shown a remarkable ability to master different circuits and adapt to difficult conditions, from dry races to rainy scenarios such as Thailand. With only two races remaining, the minimal gap between the two ensures a tense and exciting end to the season.
Marc Márquez's hectic race in Thailand
Marc Márquez experienced a difficult and emotional race at the Thai GP. While trying to close the gap to leader Pecco Bagnaia, he suffered a crash with 13 laps to go. The Spaniard, after several attempts to overtake, lost traction in a corner and crashed, a blow that dropped him down the field. However, instead of retiring, Márquez decided to get up and return to the track with determination to try to score important points in the championship.
Back in the race, Márquez began a determined comeback, moving up positions in difficult conditions due to the wet asphalt. In the process, his aggressive style was evident when he caught up with compatriot Joan Mir. Márquez tried to overtake him, but in his manoeuvre, he impacted with Mir, causing the latter to go off the track. Mir did not suffer a crash, but the manoeuvre generated controversy and, after review, the stewards imposed a penalty on Márquez, forcing him to give up a position.
